When do you get the error message, is it when you are trying to open links or while opening Outlook?

Do you have multiple browsers installed on the PC?

This is happening to me as well. I tried reinstalling Office 10, resetting IE using the Fixit and setting IE as my default. I still get the same error. I've also tried editing the registry to change the version numbers as instructed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/235428?wa=wsignin1.0

This solution we got from a Microsoft Tech Support team.

·You mentioned that you had upgraded to IE 11 but some applications were not compatible. So downgraded IE back to IE 9.

·But after downgrading IE to 9, outlook is not launching.

·Found that machine is running a 64bit OS

·And had 32 bit office

·Checked the Registry path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer and the correct version of IE was updated there.

·Hence downloaded Process Monitor.

·Took a log, sent to my id.

·Informed you that I will check the log file and get back.

·Again checked the registry on the machine. Went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/wow6432node/microsoft/internetexplorer - entered the version and then launched outlook and it fixed the problem

·Checked if you can be updated as the primary contact for the ticket and you confirmed the same.
