Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

This issue might occur if the Bluetooth drivers are not updated or services are not started.

Let’s try these methods and check if it helps in fixing the issue.

Method 1:Check Bluetooth Service Status.

a) Press Windows + R key and type 'services.msc' and press enter.

b) Locate the Bluetooth service and right click on it.

c) Click on Properties and check the start option has been enabled.

Method 2: Uninstall and install the Bluetooth driver.

a) Press Windows + X together and select Device Manager from the list.
b) Locate the Bluetoothand expand it.
c) Right click on the Bluetooth driver and select Uninstall.
d) Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the driver.
e) Restart the computer. The driver will get reinstalled again after the computer restarts.

You may also install the latest version of drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.

If the issue persists, you may refer to the link and check if it helps.

Check if the device is getting detected in Device Manager.

Open Device Manager
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-Device-Manager
If it is detected, then I suggest you to update the driver from device manager.
Try to download the updated drive from the manufacturer’s website.

Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly:

Add a Bluetooth enabled device to your computer:

These are the steps I was saying I was using to do all the troubleshooting and searching. Can anyone else help besides recommending the guides given through the windows and tabs that pop up in control panel?

You need to download and install the drivers for the HMDX Jam speaker from manufacturer’s website as mentioned in the earlier post.

Hello Nirmal
I wrote HMDX Audio, and they do not have such a driver for the HMDX Jam Speaker so from a PC/Laptop perspective with Windows environment is not going to happen even though the device has paired successfully. The device does however pair perfectly well with any other handheld device supporting bluetooth and works without problems, the problem is there is no existing device driver in Windows that support the HMDX Jam.
Would of been nice to have, guess I can't use it now on my laptop.

Hmdx Rave Bluetooth Speaker Driver

Following the Windows 7 troubleshooter led me to this page: http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php Downloading and installing the software there updated all bluetooth devices and their classifications on my computer. I had to remove/re-add the HMDX but after that it functioned as external speakers.

I was also having problems pairing my HDMX Jam speaker with my Acer Aspire laptop. I thought there was something amiss with the laptop when I couldn't get it to recognize my iPhone either. Unlike DaveAlkema, when I tried to download the Broadcom drivers, I got an error saying I had no bluetooth devices attached. Strange. I went to the Acer support site and downloaded the Ateros bluetooth driver suite. Now everything works like a champ.

Hi George - the package says 'Totally Universal - Works with virtually every smartphone, tablet, music player and PC that's made'.

Is this a fair claim if HDMX doesn't support Windows, the operating system running on the majority of the world's laptops?
